About saying Jumah Mubarak!

It has become a common trend to say Jumah Mubarak and send Jumah Mubarak messages. What is the shariah stance on it? Please enlighten.

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The day of Jumua'h is the greatest day of the week. To be alive and spend a Friday in the worship of Allah Taala is indeed blessed (Mubarak).1

Whilst congratulating with Jumua'h Mubarak is not proven or practised by Rasulullah      صلي الله عليه وسلم  and the Sahabah, there is no prohibition on condition,

One does not regard it as compulsory, Or customary.

2.  If a person fulfils the etiquettes and sunnats of a Friday as advised by Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم such a person is blessed.

There is no point in confining the congratulation of Jumua'h Mubarak to verbal utterance without deriving the barakat and blessings of Jumua'h for himself and encouraging others to do so.

And Allah Ta'āla Knows Best
