Is it permissible to take viagra tablets ? What is the correct way of intercourse ?

Question. Is it permissible to take viagra tablets ?
(2)what is the sunnah position of intercourse ? ie sideways or on top of each other etc. please clarify with evidences. jazakallah.

Answer:
1. Viagra tablets are normally used as a cure for impotency. And taking medicine is not only allowed, it's necessary.
If it is just for pleasure, then living a pleasurable life within the boundaries of Shariah is also allowed. When one fulfills his need with his lawful partner, then there should be no harm in there. However, one should not exceed the limits by making it a regular habit and overdoing things which would damage one's health.

Our sufi Saheb mentions a home made Cure which is easy and natural. Boil one cup of milk, add 2/3 spoons of good natural honey, take an egg (a free range one) whisk it, mix it in the milk and drink it. Do this every morning or when needed, this will restore your energy and improve sexual health.

2, your second question needs to be rephrased to "what is the correct way"

There are special books written on this subject, one of the recent ones is 'Islamic guide to sexual health' by mufti muhammad ibn Adam, available from azhar academy.

Allah says in Surah al Baqrah:
"They enquire from you regarding mensturation, say: it is something in which there is harm, so stay well away from (intercourse with) ladies during their period, and do not go near them until they regain taharah, so when they have washed themselves, go to them from where Allah has instructed you, surely Allah loves those who oft-repent and those who stay clean. Your wives are (like) a field for you, so come to your field from whatever way you like, and send forth for yourself (some children) And fear Allah and know that you will definitely meet him (one day) and give good news to those who believe" (2:222,223)

The ayat indicates that positions do not matter, it is the state and the place which are more important, the state of haidh should be avoided, the anus should be avoided, as it is not a field of reproduction. Wassalam

What is the sunnah way of cutting nails and disposing it?

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is there a specific recommended procedure of disposing nails and hair that have been cut? I heard they should be buried, or something to that effect. Insha'Allah, could you please comment on this?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Walaikum assalam,

The scholars generally concur that it is recommended to bury everything that is separated of a living human's body, such as a limb, hair, nails, and the like. [Shafii: Nawawi (al-Majmu` Sharh al-Muhadhdhab, 5.213), Hanbali: Buhuti (Kashshaf al-Qina`) 2.96, Hanafi: Turi (Takmilat al-Bahr al-Ra'iq) 8.232]

This is because every part of the human being has been honored by Allah Most High:

"Verily we have honoured the Children of Adam ." [Qur'an, 17.70]

This was from the habitual practice of many of the Companions of the Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace) and the early Muslims, as mentioned in works such as Ibn Abi Shayba's Musannaf.

Some Hanafi works would seem to indicate that it is necessary (wajib) to bury the hair and nails, but other texts make it clear that what is meant is a linguistic usage of wajib, namely 'highly recommended' because they follow it up by saying, 'And if one throws it away there is no wrong in it (la ba'sa bihi), though if one throws it in the toilet or washroom it is disliked.' ( Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Turi, Takmilat al-Bahr al-Ra'iq, 8.232, quoting al-Nawazil)

Walaikum assalam,
Faraz Rabbani.

Q. Can you tell me if it is permissible to cut one's nails during the night or what is the ruling on cutting nails according to the Sunnah?

A. It is permissible to cut one's nails during the night. According to the sunnah, one should cut his/her nails every week on a Thursday or Friday.
The manner of cutting the nails is that one should begin with the right hand first. In this hand, one must cut the nails in the following procedure:-

1st- the index finger

2nd- the fore finger

3rd- the ring finger

4th- the little finger

After this, one will continue by cutting the nails of the left hand in the following procedure:-

1st- the little finger

2nd- the ring finger

3rd the fore finger

4th- the index finger

5th- the thumb of the left hand.

After this, a person should cut the nail of the thumb of the right hand.

Ruling on long hair!!

Assalamu alaykum

just wondering what the ruling is if you have long hair and it gets in the way while working etc. is it permissible to use an elastic band or bobble and tie it back into a pony so it doesnt get in the way?

also whats the ruling on a man praying with their hair in this manner?

jazakallah

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

Saaidah Umm Hani Radiallahu Anha is reported to have said that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam entered Makkah, whilst he had four braids (on his hair)." (Sunan Ibn Majah p.259 v.2, Sunan Tirimizi & Sunan Abi Dawud)

Hafiz Ibn Hajr (RA) has written that what is indicated from the hadith is that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam hair usually came down to his shoulders and sometimes it was so long that he wore it in braids. This was when the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam was so preoccupied that he could not take care of his hair, such as when travelling etc…" (Fathul Bari p.360 v.10)

In principle it is permissible for a man to braid his hair or to tie it in a ponytail if there is a need like playing sports etc… or if it is difficult for him to take care of his hair. However, it is preferable to refrain from it.

Ibn Abdil Barr, a great Maliki Scholar, has written in his "Al Tamhid Lima Fil Muwatta Minal Maani Wal Asaneed" (The facilitation to the meanings and chains of transmission found in Imam Malik's Muwatta) that this principle is subject to custom. If custom dictates that by braiding the hair there will be imitation with females then those who are decent and of good character should refrain from it." (p.80 v.6)

Finally, it is considered makruh to read salah whilst having the hair braided or in a ponytail. It is mentioned in a hadith that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam passed by a man who was praying with his hair braided, upon which the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said "Leave your hair to make prostration with you." (Tabraani p.267 v.9)

About condoms and contraceptives for muslims!!

Q. Can you please tell me what the Quran says about condoms and contraceptives for muslims? Also, is birth control pills allowed, so a wife will not get pregnant? What types of contraceptive options are their for muslim newly-wed couples that do not want children immediately?

A. The message of the Holy Quran in this regard is that one should not refrain from having children simply on account of the fear of hunger, poverty and being unable to provide for the children. In this respect Allah says in the Holy Quran, 'Kill not your children because of poverty, we provide sustenance for you and for them'. (Sura al An'am (6) verse 151)

Some scholars like Shaikh Muhammad Abu Zahrah have stated that the above verse also encompassed birth control.

Children are indeed a great blessing from Allah and they should be viewed in this manner. Couples should not view 'having children' as being a burden upon them. Each child is born with his own sustenance and Allah uses his parents to reach this sustenance to him. Just as Allah provides for the parents, so too, He will provide for the children. Hence, Islam has discouraged parents from 'not wanting to have children' on account of poverty.

Islam has also discouraged Muslims from viewing marriage as a means of the gratification of one's sensual pleasures. Marriage is not just about enjoying each other. The purpose of marriage is of a more serious nature and of a higher objective. Although couples in a marriage are able to fulfill their desires in a halal (lawful) manner, yet, marriage in Islam has been instituted for a greater good and the fulfillment of a superior need.

It is through the institution of marriage, the continuity and succession of the human race can take place. One generation comes after another, and predecessors are succeeded by successors on account of marriage. With death, life comes to an end, if there was no pathway for the continuation of human beings, then the population would come to an end. Newly-weds therefore, should not forget this ideal which has been preached in Islam. Young married couples should not get into the frenzy of simply fulfilling their base desires and conduct themselves like the unbelievers. Instead, they should pay attention to the higher objective of marriage which has been preached in Islam. It is towards this, the Holy Quran has indicated, when it states: – 'Your wives are a tilth (field) unto you'. (Sura Al Baqara (2) verse 223).

The commentators have stated that in this verse 'a wife' has been compared to a 'field' (for the husband), because of the fact that 'a field' is a place in which seeds are sown and from which crops are produced. In a similar manner, a wife is one in whom a seed is sown and a human being is produced. The commentators of the Holy Quran have further elaborated that through this comparison, Allah wishes to tell us of the real objective of marriage, which is that of sowing seeds and producing. It is not only about enjoyment and fulfilling one's desires.

However, owing to the fact that there can be valid reasons for not becoming pregnant (temporarily), the (fuqaha) expert jurists have given the allowance for a woman to use temporary contraceptives in such cases. In this regard, birth control pills, usage of condoms by the males etc. will be allowed.

'Simply not wanting to have children immediately' is not a valid reason for wanting to use contraceptives. There must be an acceptable reason in the Shariah of Islam. It has been seen that there are many couples who do not use any form of contraceptive, yet, the wife does not become pregnant. On the other hand, there are women who use birth control pills, but yet, become pregnant. As Muslims, we must understand that creating life is totally in the hands of Allah. Whenever He wishes, He creates life from the discharge of the male and female, and whenever He wishes, He does not create life from it. In this regard, it is narrated that a companion once asked the Prophet (SAS) if it was permissible for him to practice coitus interuptus with his wife, (so that she may not become pregnant). Upon this, the Prophet (SAS) replied by saying, 'there is nothing in that; whatever is destined will occur'. (Bukhari and Muslim).

The Hadith shows that conception takes places only when Allah decrees it. It does not automatically occur that a child will be born on account of every union between the male and female.

Based on the statements of the great scholars of Islam, temporary forms of contraception are permissible on a limited scale for valid reasons accepted by the Shariah.

Acceptable reasons in the Shariah include:-

Health risks to mothers and children.
The life of the mother is endangered by becoming pregnant.
Repeated pregnancies weaken the mother's body.
If another pregnancy would seriously affect the care and upbringing of the existing child.
Islam does not allow family planning (and the use of contraception) to meet with the demands of present day trends or social reasons.

With respect to the situation where a woman avoids becoming pregnant so that she may pursue a career, the Jurists have clearly written that this is not a valid reason in the Shariah for 'not wanting to have children'.

It must be understood that Islam places no burden on the woman (wife) to earn a livelihood. Her maintenance before marriage is the responsibility of the father, after marriage, it is that of the husband, and in old age, it is upon her children.

In cases where a woman is forced to seek employment to maintain her children or family on account of desperate circumstances, then it would be permissible to use temporary forms of contraceptives.

With respect to a woman 'not wanting to have children' in order to preserve her beauty and figure, this is not acceptable in the Shariah, and it is not a valid reason for using contraception to prevent pregnancy. Although Islam encourages a woman to look presentable and beautify herself for the sake of her husband, it does not sanction the same for the sake of public approbation, which is the current trend. (See Islamic Principles on Family Planning pgs. 38-45).

And Allah knows best.
